This was a gift to one of my daughter's teachers this year. She really made an impression on her and well, I just wanted to give her something in return, she has had a rough time this round it seems. The kids of the class even got together and threw her a surprise baby shower, which I thought was really cool of them
Ok most cakes are done in round tiers, but, I had gotten an idea to do a square one. You know like a sheet cake you see at the grocery store?
To form the cake I cut foam board in 2 inches X (whatever size I wanted to do the cake in) and glued them to form a box of sorts, then I rolled them as normal and put them inside the frame and also made a row around the outside of the frame. You see at that point I was still intending to not cover it but wrap the blankets around so the diapers would show on the top, well in doing so it looked like my giraffe was going to dive into a pool. So I covered the cake making it look like it was iced. (OH and I am NOT one to sew AT ALL, but I was in Joann's the other day and they had removable cloth glue that when the item is washed it cleans away.. I was doing the snoopy dance I tell ya.. no more double sided tape to hold the blankets down!!!) Putting the giraffe up higher so you could see the diapers sorta helped the visual of using diapers..
My card is an easel card which is sorta kinda maybe hard to see. And the little giraffe is an inkadoo stamp.. doesnt she match the stuffed one?? (ok close I know) and I took some teeny tiny little cotton balls and used the ink pad to dab him.. and then glittered his spots
Anywho, hope you like.. I surely do, and so did my daughter's teacher
Thanks for looking
