So, the colors this week seemed to lend themselves to the steampunk look. I made a foray into a hardware store the other day and while the hardware man may be helpful, he gives you an odd look when you say you're on the lookout for cogs or gears for steampunk art! I took a piece of sheet music and sprayed it with some distressing ink and tore the edges. The next layer is a piece of Vanilla run through the Big Shot in the Vintage embossing folder inked with Soft Suede...the edges are distressed and then the whole panel was sponged with Early Espresso and Soft Suede. I had a vintage postcard that I cut my main image from...also sponged those edges. The flowers were die cut then crumpled and sponged and have my gears for their centers...I embossed the gears with a mix of ep for a vintage feel. The compass is faux metal. I added a piece of crochet trim over Basic Black with its edges distressed with the cutter kit tool and a double bow of Crumb Cake seam binding.

This is so cool Gail! I love your cogs, especially the flower center. The images, papers and ribbons 'n' lace are fantastic. Beautiful work with the color challenge. Amazing card.
