An ATC for a Paris/French-themed swap. Josephine Baker was an American-born French dancer, singer, and actress. She was the first African-American female to star in a major motion picture, to integrate an American concert hall, and to become a world-famous entertainer. She is noted for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States as well as for assisting the French Resistance during World War II, when she relayed information written in invisible ink on her music. She was the first American-born woman to receive the French military honor, the Croix de guerre.
One of her most famous costumes was the "Banana Skirt" worn at the Folies Bergere for her Danse sauvage.
The background for this ATC is sheet music to a 1919 song titled "Why Do They Call 'Em Wild Women" -- it seemed appropriate! It is stamped and clear-embossed with the SU French Script BG. Her skirt was hand-colored with markers to look like the old-time hand-tinted photos.
