When I saw this sketch, I thought about some lighthouse images I had on my desk ready to go and then the idea of the faux metal compasses hit, and that caused me to shift to the ship image (also already on my desk!). Long story short, this is an image from a 1998 SU set of which I only have this ship stamp and don't know the name of the set. I used watercolor crayons and an aqua pen to paint it. I crumpled and sponged the Marina Mist pieces and the burgundy, and sponged some Soft Suede ink on them. All the edges are torn or distressed with the cutter kit distressing tool. The wood grain is made using the Distressed Texturz plate inked with Soft Suede. I covered the seam between the 2 panels with a piece of twine from a package. The compasses are stamped in versamark onto cardstock with 4 layers of a mix of black, silver and gold embossing powders. I can't wait for the new mini catalog nautical images but made do with these while I wait! With a husband who put 25 years in the Navy ship images and nautical stuff are always on my wish list!
*Got a little help from my friends who IDed the ship as the ship from Schooner
