Hail to Benzi, Queen for the Week and the illustrious President of the Punchkateers. Yea! How great to have Brenda honored in this special way. I love her cards, her sweet words of encouragement, her love of Alabama (the state and the school), and her heart. Benzi is the only other Alabama stamper I know, and her love of punchez (along with the other Punchkateers) rubbed off on me until I became totally addicted. So wouldn't you know it, I picked a card to case that has no punching:
but it was just sooooo cute that I had to try it. I decided to use punchez in order to honor her since she is the head of the Punchkateers. I saw this great tutorial on utube by Valita showing how to make side facing birds with the owl punch - here is the link:
and I have been really wanting to try it. It was so easy and I think it came out super cool.
I kept Brenda's layout and use of birds, but I used gold instead of Kraft, punched my birds, and added hardware and a sentiment. I needed to make an Anniversary card for DH - he has put up with me for 4 years now so he deserves something!
Oh, that hardware was an adventure to say the least! I had seen where Faith (Mark's Finest Papers) had used embossing powder to change a silver charm to gold so I thought I would try it and change my silver hardware to gold. I must have been half asleep still because I started heating that embossing powder while I was holding the hardware - totally forgetting the metal gets really hot when you heat it! I dropped it when it got hot and the embossing powder all came off on my floor. I tried it again not holding the hardware and it worked much better. You can see my little mistakes in the bumpy texture of the hardware but I think it gives it more character! LOL!

Fabulous work here Nancy. I love your birds. How cool to use the owl punch. You honored Queen Benzi perfectly. Good job on the hardware, hope you didn't burn your fingers.
