I intended to add a colored layer in back of the birdcage just like in the lovely sample, but after sponging the edges of the image with crumb cake ink while it was still in the Nestie die, I decided I liked it just the way it was. The bow is done with a narrow strip of a glittery gold-toned tulle that I found at JoAnn's. Super cheap embellishment to use and adds a delicate wisp of detail to an otherwise plain-Jane card.
Tip for cutting tulle successfully: Fold tulle in half lengthwise, lining up outside edges, fold it again so that you have about a 10" span of fabric to cut. Pin it so that it doesn't spring apart and then take it to your guillotine cutter and cut into strips #3/4" is about right because it stretches when you use it#. It's easiest to just cut the entire piece of tulle at one time #ask me how I know!# and save yourself the agony of realigning the edges when you want more. To store, just stuff the fluffy bundles in a glass jar or zip bag -- don't bother tidying them, because they have a mind of their own and like being left in a mess!
Thanks for looking!
