I've been creating several cards featuring wild animals and using the same sketch for them. This card features a leopard and I've added a little twist by distressing it to give it a shabby chic appearance. Now many of you will probably laugh at my idea of distressing a card because it's not as distressed as I've seen on other cards. Mentally I had a hard time distressing this card since it's somewhat out of my element in my cardmaking, but I gave it a whirl.
CARD (5.5” tall x 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Leopard
Front Sentiment: none
Inside Sentiment: none
I created the base card from deep beige cardstock and layered it with a leopard print paper and black cardstock. To give the card its shabby chic appearance I distressed the edges of the leopard print paper and sponged it with black ink.
For the focal point of the card I stamped a leopard on white cardstock and colored it in rich browns. I sponged a combination of colors around the leopard reflecting the overall card color scheme. Again, to continue the shabby chic appearance I distressed the edges of the image and sponged them with black ink. I matted the leopard image with deep beige and black cardstock and popped it from the surface of the card for added dimension.
I elected to leave the inside blank, however, I did decorate the white cardstock with a band of the leopard print that I distressed and matted the panel on black cardstock.
I created a coordinating envelope from heavy white cover stock and affixed a band of the leopard print along the left edge.
