Christchurch, NZ was devestated by an earthquake this week. My cousin and his wife were there. They work for the federal government at McMurdo in Anarctica and were on their way home after being deployed for the past 6 months. We have cried and fretted for 3 days not knowing if they would get home. Thank God for email. They were able to give us a few updates and we knew when the airport had opened and the flights were again resuming service. He and his wife had just left the square after having lunch when the quake started and the church tower toppled onto THAT square. They took turns sleeping at 2 hour intervals during all the after shocks, as buildings were still falling. The Red Cross distributed food and water.........what would the world do without the Red Cross ?! It took them 36 hours from the time they walked to the airport til they arrived home at 3AM today. There are still hearty American souls stuck at McMurdo trying to get home before the anarctic winter begins. If you are so inclined remember all of those in this tragedy when you say your prayers today.
I made this card for my cousin Jim and his wife Annie..... We thank the good Lord that they are home.

Oh, Tina, thank God that they are home safely and may he help the others reach their homes safely too! You've made the most amazing card for them - the image, the charm, the gold pearls and the stamped bg all work together so wonderfully towards the theme.

What a wonderful card! I love the charm. I'm so grateful your relatives are safe. I have cousins who spent a couple of years in Christchurch so I've been trying to keep up. Such a devastating blow!
