I created this card/album for my husband for Valentine's Day, and also for the JustRite Friday challenge JRC_047.
Here's the details:
Paper: PaperTrey Ink Stamper's Select White (inside pages)
Lasting Impressions "Sweet Tomato - Checks" (red checks on front)
K & Company "Best of K & Company" 12 x 12 stack (Byzantine-style paper on front and inside pages)
Stampin Up Prints Sampler (More Mustard DP on front)
DSWV "Cafe Mediterranean" stack (teal DP in front heart)
Ink:
Stampin Up Not Quite Navy, Real Red (markers and reinkers)
Copic BG75
Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic gold pen (embellishments on inside pages)
Stamps:
JustRite Times New Roman fonts, 50 pt and 15 pt
Embellishments:
Beads, Prima paper flower, white silk 1/4" ribbon dyed with Real Red SU marker, white tassel dyed with Real Red marker, SU Hodgepodge Hardware (jump rings for binding), cereal box chipboard (for covers), K & Company rhinestone.
Tools:
Spellbinders Labels 4, Labels 1, Classic Small Ovals, Classic Hearts, Scalloped Squares, and Fancy Tags; SU scalloped punch, needle nose pliers, 1/8" and 1/16" punches.
How I made it:
I cut the cereal box in two strips of 2 1/2" wide and trimmed one end of each with the Labels 4 die. Trimmed the covers to 3 1/2" in length. Cut two pieces of Sweet Tomato DP into the same sizes and adhered to the covers. Inside covers were covered with the same sizes of K & Company DP. Cut the hearts for the front using Spellbinders Classic Hearts dies, and the SU DP was cut using the largest Fancy Tags die, trimmed at one end with scissors. The rhinestone post for wrapping the ribbon closure around, consists of a deep aqua rhinestone adhered to a rivet post (about 1/8" in height), then the post was adhered to the front cover near the bottom. The ribbon closure was made by dying white silk ribbon to the desired red color and threading it through the beads and tassel (crimp beads were used to keep the beads where I wanted them. There is a 1/16" hole in the bottom cover with a jump ring that is attached to the ribbon along with another bead. The inside pages were stamped with JustRite font stamps, with certain words highlighted in color by painting the stamps with markers before stamping, and embellished with gold pen. Each page has two lines of the poem, which I found on Wikipedia's online entry for Roses Are Red; it's from Gammer Gurton's Garland, a 1784 collection of English nursery rhymes. The seventh page in the book is private, sorry! Each page in the book was covered with a different shape cut from the K & Company DP around the text. I was going for a medieval illuminated text look. The pages were bound by punching 1/8" holes in pages and cover (5 holes 1/2" apart) and attaching jump rings through each hole.
