This is for IC269 and Rooms By Zoya is our inspiration site. Wow! I almost went into overload with all the gorgeous things to see on the site and into total shock by the prices. I loved the room with the Safari theme. I especially loved the scene on this full bed. http://www.roomsbyzoyab.com/product/...ull_p-694.aspx
I tried to recreate the background scene on the headboard of the bed by watercoloring with reinkers. My background is no where as soft and whimsical as the inspiration piece but I do think it looks fun behind the giraffe images. I wet my piece of watercolor paper and then painted on the green area, sky and water. I used a pencil to sketch out my tree lines in the background and then painted over them with brown ink. I added the leaves with a sort of dotting with the brush and then softened by dabbing a plain wet brush over them. I used the same dotting technique to create greenery around the water's edge and base of the trees. I used a scruffy brush to stipple in more texture with the darker green. The giraffes were stamped on watercolor pape, painted with reinkers and cut out to pop up in front of the scene. After I got the whole scene finished I realized that if I wanted to frame it and have a large enough frame opening I was going to have to use a full size 5.25 square piece of paper to have enough border on the rop and bottom of the frame. I cut just the edges of the frame with the deckle scissors. I attached the scene to the base of the card and attached the frame over it with mounting tape. I punched out the foliage, sketched on little lines with a marker and then ran it through my crimper to add some texture. The giraffes were popped up in the scene and the foliage was layered in front of them and around the frame for embellishment.
Thanks to Stephanie and Holly for giving us such a fantastic inspiration site today.

Wow, Kittie - what a totally wonderful scene in all the details. Using the deckle scissors on the Nestabilities was a great extra touch - it really adds to the whole safari/out in the wild look.
