This card is for Katie Renz over at Clear Dollar Stamps, it was just announced on the CDS blog that she has a rare form of gasteric cancer. If you would like to read more, visit Katie's blog at http://katiespaperhaven.blogspot.com/
I received an email from Katie, stating I was to be Clear Dollar Stamps Featured Friend for the month of November. Until that time, I had just been making cards and posting them on my SCS gallery which you can see here judysusa's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers I have come up with my own designs and I have cased cards also. I can't tell you what a feeling came over me to be a "Featured Friend" it was like I was famous or something, I guess my imagination ran wild. Until that time I did not read blogs, just checked out the gallery on SCS, watched Gina's videos or looked at the tutorials. Katie told me about their challenge for the month, so I checked it out, I submitted cards for that challenge, when the winners were listed there was only three instead of five. I emailed Katie and ask her what I had done wrong. She checked it out, and of course I hadn't done it right, but they gave me a prize anyway. From that I started participating in the color & sketch challenges at GKD and won the very first challenge I entered. Now I'm flying high, but also a little dissapointed when I don't win. Since they asked for people to send cards, I decided to make a card for Katie and use this weeks Stamp TV sketch challenge.
The stamps are a Clear Dollar set called Get Well Critters #the one I won for being Featured Friend, I thought that was fitting, even though the turtle just has a cold#. I must have stamped this five or six times with onyx black versafine before I was happy with it. It's colored with prisma-colored pencils & goo gone. I wound up using some of those extras for cutting out the shell and the handkerchief #I don't think tissues come in colors#, and popped them up on foam dots. I had the eyes popped too, but didn't like that, so I took them off, and just used a black glaze pen for the eyeballs. The dp is from a DCWV matstack The Cafe Mediterranean. I decided to go with a bright pink base card, and there is yellow in the dp, so I layered with that. I found some brads in my stash that pretty much match the yellow. On the pink base card, I thought it needed something, so I stamped feel better with victorian velvet distress ink also from the same set, and the main sentiment was stamped on the yellow with onyx black versafine, then I cut out all three layers of the main sentiment with the CDS Designer Dies. I paper pierced the entire sentiment tags, and checked back into may stash of brads. I had these little arrows, but not in pink, they were yellow and of course wouldn't show up, so I checked my stash of ep and sure enough the bottle of A' La Mode pink ep was a close enough match, so I embossed them. I will be getting this card in the mail probably tomorrow. I hope it brightens her day, like she has brightened mine. Thanks for looking and any comments.
