8x8 Hollow glass block - Found at Lowe's & Home Depot
Kilz spray or can (again any brand will work), frosted glass privacy window spray, or paint
1/2" Diamond glass bit ($13 at Home Depot or Lowes)
Strand of clear lights (50 lights with only one plug end)
Glue Gun or E-6000
Drill a hole in the bottom of the block(do not drill in the seam)
Drill dry, going very slowly. This is where the lights will be inserted... blow out the dust with an air hose.
Thread the lights in thru the hole sticking the bulb parts in first.
Sponge the Kilz, paint, or privacy glass window spray on the back of the block. Most people do 2 coats. Set aside to dry.
This is done to reflect the light out towards the fornt of the block and also to keep people from seeing the inside of the block.
You may also wish to do this to the top and sides if you are not putting a ribbon onto your finished block.
Cut a 6-1/2 x6-1/2 piece of cardstock(this will be your background). Stamp your background(I round my corners) and run thru the XYRON laminator using the laminating/adhesive cartridge. Cut your next layer and stamp and run thru Xyron, and so forth and so on.
I use the Sticky Strip on each layer and also to attach it to the glass.
You can put a ribbon on top, or seasonal greenery or something to match your design I use a hot glue gun to hold the ribbon in place.. you could use E-6000, or whatever works best for you.
