For Dawn's Friday Free for All Challenge today...What's your New Year's Resolution? I have been browsing the gallery today, and I admit, mine is the same as many other stampers...MAIL what you MAKE!
I started to discuss my dilemma when commenting on Vicky's card today...you see, Mr. Postman at the local office reeee-alllly appears to dislike me. When I bring in an envelope, he immediately scowls then proceeds to BEND it (I KNOW!), twist it, poke it, and roll his eyes. Just a few weeks ago he drawled "Does this thing have PINS in it?" ("No siree, Bob, just brads and a button or six" Then he tells me how you can't "machine sort these things" etc., and appears perturbed.
I have started this resolution already, and just mailed out some things recently. The last time I visited, I handed him a card and said "LOOK mail from your favorite homemade card maker (HUGE SMILE)" and he snarled...REALLY, he SNARLED at me!
The second hinderance to card-sending is the envelope thing. I always have cards, never have the right sized envelopes. So I should limit my card diet to A2 only this year, but to be honest...I am not sure what that even MEANS, hee! I tend to stamp from the focal point outwards, and my cards often end up to be 8 x 11...not even kidding ;)
So you see, my resolution really should be to make NICE with the postman, since he appears to be the root cause of my card-hoarding problem. Or I could also stock up on giant envelopes with fleece filling. Whatever I have to do, I WILL send lots of cards this year...or there may be an avalanche the next time I open up my card cupboard!

The ladies at our post office are the same! Drives me crazy! I went in one day to have an envelope weighed (I guess I put on a few too many embellies!) And the lady said to me "Why can't you so-called cardmakers just go to Hallmark and buy cards like the rest of us?!?" UGH! Like a knife to my heart! Hallmark????? really??????? Sorry! When I care enough I MAKE the very best not BUY it!
Love your card! Need that stamp!

OMGosh! Kelly, the post office issue seems to be a common thing...Is your postal worker RELATED to my postal worker? Or, is it their training?
"Okay new recruits, here's the skinny: If you see a happy, excited woman with ink on her fingers and a StazOn on her blouse, this is the sure sign of the "Happy Card Maker!" What ever you do, do not SMILE! It might encourage her to make MORE cards! And, do not make it easy for her to mail those cards. BEND them in front of her! Cram them into your outgoing basket to crush the corners! Do NOT let her cries of dismay deter you from your duty! You MUST NOT let her know that just by making cards, she's helping YOU keep your job! You must make her feel inferior to your superior work ethic and bow to your government pension!"
Yep...I think it's both...They are related and the training.... LOL
Anyway... you can avoid the post office by just slapping 3 Forever Stamps on your cards! Oh, and you can just put those bumpy cards in an envelope with a small piece of bubble wrap to protect them!

Kelly, I have this stamp and your card is going into my favs, I love it - I love how you've kept it CAS, so cute with the ric rac and the twine. I guess I should count my blessings I don't have to carry my handmade cards shamefully into the post office for a small scale battle with grumpy postal workers - if I spend the money on what they call "Large Letter Stamps", evidently they can be really, really thick!!
Anyway, adorable card!

This is adorable! My postal worker is always pleasant, but then I am a chronic card hoarder and don't mail very many! Ha! I guess I should resolve to send more cards!

Mine is named Gary and he is super nice. So I always look for him when I go in. If someone else is on duty, I wait another day to mail.
I love your basket of mail. Super cute card.
