Hi! This card was made for today's Ways to Use it Challenge: Remembrance Day. (It's the Canandain Holiday similiar to today's Veteran's Day in the USA.) It also fits this week's Stampin' B's Challenge to make a "home card."
Last night was the FIRST night in over a YEAR that I slept. I slept. Can you believe that? And, it wasn't from exhaustion. I have had some "MOJO ISSUES" regarding a stamp set design, and it was affecting everything/everyone around me. My cards have been, "phoned in." My office work has been slapdashed at best. And frankly, when I burned dinner on Monday night...my childhood favorite: Spaghetti Soup, I totally lost it. Yep...LOW point. Then, yesterday afternoon, in the middle of helping out in the shipping department, it hit me! I looked up at everyone and started laughing like an idiot, ran up the 2 flights of stairs to my office, slammed the door shut and started to draw! Less than a half hour later, I had submitted the new set to the manufacturer and was dancing around my office like a maniac! There was music, of course...Okay, it was in my head, "American Band" but it was real to me! LOL (Yes, there are bay type windows in my office...Yes, EVERYONE and their mothers could see me...I forgot about that. And now, I'm being taunted with a YouTube video... Drat those horrible cell phones!)
My son is in the Army. My friends are military, they have sons and daughters serving, and yes, we know MANY families who have lost their sons and daughters in the military. However, I like to think on the positive side of military. These men and woman serve to protect our country.
Back to why the mojo was gone...A friend of mine asked that I make a card for her to send to her nephew and his wife who were coming home for Christmas from Afganistan. She didn't want a "military" type card, or one with eagles, flags, etc. So, I decided to make a card for her that has a home, in the winter. A home like the one that was deep in the woods in Pennsyvania, near York, PA. Yep, this house was drawn sitting in my grandparents' car back in 1978. Oh, and YES, I was YOUNG! I hear Nancyruth saying, "SURE you were!" LOL The image was stamped in Adirondack's Pitch Black and colored in with Copics. I used the airbrush for the background and added Flower Soft Snow.
I think this will work, don't you?
Finished size: 5" square
Total time to complete: about 25 minutes...took longer to write this!
