This week's Stampin' B's DT challenge is to make a fall card!!
I've been having fun making autumn cards with traditional fall colors: reds, oranges, yellows, browns. But this time I decided to do something a little different and went with black, teal, and gold. This leaf image from The Angel Company is one of the older ones in my stamp collection, but it remains my favorite leaf stamp! I love how detailed it is, and I think it is perfect for embossing. I stamped it with metallic gold ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
Want to know a secret?? I have some great little ribbon slides that I thought would be perfect for the MMSC74 Midnight Madness sketch I used for this card, but they are silver and all the other metallic accents on this card are gold. Rather than clash or, perish the thought, go buy something that would match, I tried a little alchemy. I pressed one of the silver slides into my ColorBox metallic gold pigment ink pad and covered it liberally with gold ink. Then, using tweezers, I immediately dropped it into a pile of clear embossing powder, and--presto!--after a minute under my heat tool, I had transmutated silver into gold!!!
Thanks for taking a look!
