The challenge I posted for VSN was to be inspired by a summer vacation or our time away from school for the summerÂ…I used vacations from school for the challenge. As kids on a farm we didnÂ’t take vacations so highlights for our time away from school were country fairs and we had a few of them that we attended every year and they all had Farris wheels to light up the night sky and scare me to near death when they stopped me on the tip top when the ride was unloading and that seat would sway back and forth as I prayed a bolt wouldnÂ’t come loose that would plummet me to the ground. It wasnÂ’t that I was scared of heights but when my safety was out of my hands it was not the same as climbing the maple tree as high as the two story farm house we lived in. By the way, I donÂ’t do Farris wheels these days!
-I loved how the big monster wheels lit up the night sky so I had to figure a way to create it on paper. My technique was very quick for a forty five minute card. I used a VersaMark pen and dotted it on the image and clear heat embossed so this gave the lights a bit of a glow.
-I punched a ½” circle from a post it note to mask off for the moon. Sponged light blue around the carnival tents and dark on the outer areas. I’m not associated with Ranger – Tim Holtz but I must say those distress inks are a must for sponging. I used to sponge with SU classic and it was a long process which can be done in a third of the time with these distress inks.
-The Moonlight white Brilliance pad was used to sponge around the moon and give some rays heading down to the ground but I also kept that area light when sponging on the blues.
-The blue border is stamped with SU linen which was already on the cardstock from the scrap box.
-The fun is a partial sentiment by Darcie which I inked up with a black marker. It also goes across the bottom of the card on the inside.
-For the envelope I inked up part of the image with the black marker but had a hard time getting it to stamp solid so had to be happy with the faded image after three attempts. Someone will probably think I meant to do that, right!

Gorgeous card Roxie and fun memories!! As I think back on so many things I did as a kid I can`t decide if I was brave or just stupid! LOL Ferris wheels at night are just magical. :-)

Love this! I got those little tears in my eyes that mean happy memories. There was a small carnival at a nearby beach. Although we didn't get to ride that ferris wheel as often as we would have liked, in my memory I see it just like your card.
