Today is Release Day at Artistic Outpost. This card uses images from Haunted Halloween, which is a Victorian inspired collection that includes a vintage witch illustration, a cane-swinging dapper skeleton, and a wonderful haunted home that could be used without the scary subtext. Other stamps include a group of flying bats, a hanging bat, a raven, spider web border, and great sentiments.
I love the amazing Victorian house. The town where I grew up was filled with wonderful homes like these, and this one reminds me of one near my Dad's house we would ride past on our bicycle trek around the block.
I started by stamping the home in Dark Brown ink on yellow designer paper. Next I painted on several colors of Shimmerz glitter paint to give the home a haunted glow. I finished with lots of sponging with Distress Inks in the sky and along the edges.
Would you believe that the orange paper under the house started as a happy, perky orange polka dot paper from We R Memory Keepers 70 & Sunny Collection?
I started by sponging several colors of darker orange distress inks onto the paper, and then spraying it with Ink Potion Number 9 to blend the inks and soften the paper. Next I crumpled, uncrumpled, and crumpled the paper some more until it was sufficiently worn and wrinkled.
I flattened the paper and rubbed my Brushed Cordoroy Distress ink pad over the top to add ink to the raised wrinkles in the paper. Next a crumpled a few more times. and then sponged on some Old Paper Distress ink to add a more subtle highlight to the wrinkled texture. I used strong two sided tape about 1/2" in from each side to adhere the paper, so the edges could be distressed a bit more & the texture of the wrinkles was maintained ... my own faux orange leather look (which works for the Faux Technique Challenge at The Corrosive Challenge Blog)
And make sure you check out the delicious ribbon along the bottom. I adhered a wide piece of strong double sided tape and worked my way from side to side, folding and crumpling the ribbon as I went. Artistic Outpost is now selling this wonderful hand-dyed seam binding ribbon in sets with vintage trims and buttons.
I finished with one of the sentiments & two stamped spider webs from the set.
My blog has links to the other designers, so you can check out the entire set as well as more cards made with this fun new set.
