Gina K showed this cool Distressed Linen technique on Stamp TV where you basically are doing an emboss resist on designer paper and using distress inks to color it, so I wanted to try that on my card today. I started with a piece of Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry; I have a small piece of it laying at the base of my card so you can see how my background paper started out. I clear embossed this shasta flower onto the designer paper, let it cool, then I sponged my distress inks (tattered rose and weathered wood) over that. I really like the effect of how you can still see the original designer paper pattern after you've embossed and sponged it with ink.
This is also for Roxie's sketch challenge today. I stamped an extra shasta flower onto bordering blue, cut it out, rubbed wax paper over it to give it a little shimmer, sponged the outer edges with the weathered wood distress ink, bent back the edges of the flower with my bone folder, added hematite glitter to the center, and popped up on a dimensional.
I black embossed my sentiment on vellum and adhered that to the back of my die cut oval panel.

Charlene, This is absolutely gorgeous. Love how you did the technique, and the absolutely beautiful blue flower...Love your paper too, and the border punch. A beautiful card.

Getting daring with your stamping on DP, aren't you. I'll have to check out that tutorial because this is certainly lovely looking.
Not today, mind you, colleague of DH's coming for dinner...
I really love the sentiment on vellum so that you can still see the background through. A great take on the sketch.

Ho hum, I tried leaving a comment earlier and then I lost SCS altogether with a database error.
You are getting adventurous with your stamping on DP aren't you! I'll have to check out that tutorial, because this looks so good. I really like the sentiment stamped on vellum so that you can still see the pretty background underneath.
