I am having a blast as one of the Visiting Designers at Gingersnap Creations this month. This week's Random Redhead Challenge is Fairies. I'm actually not much of a fairy gal ... usually a bit too cutesy for me ... I only had one fairy image in my entire stamp collection, so I decided to go a slightly different route.
When I was in NYC at the Ink Pad, I found an awesome set of Butterfly Bits from Invoke Arts. I love that I can turn any image into a fairy. For this card, I used Prom Queen from Stampotique to create my fairy image. I stamped the Prom Queen in Dark Brown ink on Basic Grey Manila paper, and then stamped her a second time , so I could cut out a mask for the center of her body where I wanted to stamp the wings (no need to cut out the entire image, just the part you need).
I stamped the wings in Peony Chalk ink and colored them with Pebbles Glitter Chalk. I also added a bit of glitter chalk to her hair, eye shadow, and boots and used it to create the pavement to ground the image. The background paper is from Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage Collection. The sentiment is printed on the remaining scrap of the Basic Grey Manila paper (I attached the strip to a piece of copy paper with temporary adhesive and ran it through my ink jet printer). The font is Minya Nouvelle.
