Congratulations to ConnieJo9 for being the recipient of the crown for this week's QFTD12! I looked at each and every card in her gallery before I was able to make up my mind which one I wanted to CASE. I spent a great deal of time smiling and LOL while browsing but I finally decided this would be the card I'd case
I used a digi image I found for free on the stars & stamps blog over the Memorial Day weekend, and colored it with Derwent wc pencils and an aqua pen. The dog's droopy ears and adorable expression reminded me of an incident with my dachshund Bitzi from years ago.
Bitzi was a sweet pooch, very lovable and loyal, but oh how she loved her treats! My DH was never one to deny her because she'd quietly sit and stare at you until she got your attention. She'd move an inch closer every few seconds, hoping she'd catch your glance. After she moved close enough that she couldn't get any closer without sitting on your feet, she'd quietly start whimpering. It was a very subdued whimpering noise at first, coming every minute or so, but it grew a little louder with each attempt. This could go on for at least 10 minutes if you pretended to ignore her. She was relentless in her pursuit of treats. One day my DH was making her wait much longer than usual. She was wearing the same sad expression on her face like the dog on my card, and after patiently trying in vain to get his attention, she couldn't hold back any longer and loudly barked, breaking the silence and demanding immediate attention! My husband looked at her and said "Don't look at me with those hog eyes! I don't have any slop for you today!!" We all roared, but Bitzi scampered off to the kitchen, assuming what he said was something more like "Ok Bitzi, I'll get your treat now!" LOL Every time I see this dog image it reminds me of her sweet little begging sessions. Gosh I miss her!!
I'm sure our deployed military members miss their pets back home too, so this card is going to OWH to be shared with those who serve our country!

Darling card and wonderful story. I loved it all. Your coloring on this sad eyed begger, hehe, is awesome. Love the paper piercing. My Rosco dog sounds a lot like your Bitzi. Dinner time he just sits and stares making little noises. Then he will even nudge you with his cold nose. Such a funny dog. I just love him. TFS :0)

This is so adorable, I love the image and the coloring. Your story is so great, reminds me of my Charlie. He would sit and stare at me for however long it took with a smile on his face though. And all you could see was his little crooked bottom teeth. He was so dear to me. Thanks for the beautiful story and memories of my own.

Only someone who has owned a doxie can really appreciate the look that they get in their eyes... so pathetic... they are going to die if you don't go get that treat... NOW... I have had two doxies and they are all cut from the same mold.. .This card is adorable... and the story actually brought tears to my eyes and heart... as I miss my Gwennie dog too.. They are special gifts from God... no two ways about it... Ours would stand up straight and whine... and finally bark if no one paid any attention... like I said they are all cut from the same mold..
Thanks for the memories... and the story.. love them both..

What a sweet story and what a sweet dog image. My dog does this every night because she expects, and gets, a cheese stick. The second I sit down on the couch she stares at me and pokes me and whimpers until I get the message. Aren't they great communicators?
