This is the cover for my 6x6 chipboard home-made album featuring flower punch art. I painted the chipboard before adding the other elements like my flower.
First, I primed the chipboard with gesso and 'painted' it in several stages - beginning with large areas of darker paints (metallic purples, reds and gold), then top layers of lighter coloured paints (lt blue, lt green, yellow). Finally I used bubblewrap and white paint as a highlight and to smooch and blend all over. It looks like impressionist style!
I gave it a light sanding with a sanding block. Then swiped it clean.
I stamped a few images in ink, dried them and applied a protective clear coat of gel medium. Then I decorated like mad! I embossed and glittered just about everything too, lol!
I like this because now the cover is very sturdy, and protected from fingerprints - I used glossy gel medium so it has a nice sheen to it.

Sorry I didn't realize I had a comment - but thank you for saying!
The piece you are referring to was made by putting rubber bands on my brayer, and inking with Versamark. After brayering the cardstock, I embossed it with white embossing powder and afterwards inked it with different colours using a soft cloth. I think it looks like batik too
And...my cover is still looking good as that gel medium makes a good protective coating.
