Well today's Ways to Use it Challenge made me dive into some art supplies that I bought almost a year ago and hadn't used yet. I find paint just a bit intimidating. I used a scrap of cardstock that I found on my desk today when I was trying to clean up the load of paper scraps that always seems to take over. This was an embossed piece from last christmas. So I ended up making a Christmas card on the day following the hottest day on record in the last three years in this state.
I used sponges to apply turquois and purple ink to the embossed scrap and then used a paint brush to accent some of the embossed images. After this dried I painted it with Shimmer Frost White paint. Then I painted the chipboard snowflake and sprinkled on some silver glitter while the paint was still wet. When dry, I stamped this with some swirls from the Elements of sytle set. I thought this was dry and I tried to brush on a layer of Crystal effects to seal everything and it smeared the stamped image. I actually kind of like the softened effect it created. I added a half pearl and did some layering and added a die cut greeting.
So what do you think about my tropical colored Christmas card?
