Simple, practical and fun! This is my wee entry for the May Blog Waltz with Waltzingmouse Stamps.
This idea came to me in the middle of the night, as they so often seem to do. Anyone else have these nocturnal inspirations? I wanted to keep the colour scheme low-key using warm browns, peaches and cream, a little different from my usual pastels.
I used some simple Kraft CS and folded it the way Jennifer McGuire showed us (12"x4"cut then scored at 4",6" & 8". Fold in half, then fold outer flaps back in towards centre, creating a pocket. Cut out place for card, then glue around top, spine and bottom of inside flap). I love using this template and can make either 3- 4x4 cards or 4- 3x3 cards. Depends if you want your gift card vertical or horizontal.
I sponged the edges of the paper (with Vintage Photo) before stamping my BG, but my BG seems to have disappeared! I know Antique linen is light, but it showed up really nice before the rest was added on. Darn. Please imagine you see the perfectly lined up (cos they actually were!) large Knit stamp on the front and back of the card. I find the edge sponging done before stamping of BG seems to keep the pattern better. Well, it usually does. Maybe this Kraft is more absorbant than others?
Anywho, as you see I really love using my Inque Boutique shell as a label. It's easy to cut out afterwards and really supports fine sentiments (I often cut up long stamps, but always try to cut on an angle, if possible. It makes lining up the words as intended much, much easier!). The basket, butterfly & leaf image were coloured with my Copics then I added touches of my Sakura pen on all including the shell edging. My little roses were made with twists of the circle cut scallop (I also sponged a little dried Marigold on them then sprayed with my Perfect Pearls) and the little stamens are actually that. I just cut the buds off, applied some rock candy stickles to the rose centres then poked the wee stamen heads in & let dry. To keep the roses from being too high, I also cut out the flower part of the floral stamp (the paper part not the stamp-lol) so I could press the roses and their teeny calyx in a bit. Used Glossy Accents to adhere them. A few gems from my stash were added to the butterfly with some bronze pearls added as the body. I finished off with a beautiful Zva flourish and cotton trim I found at, of all places the $ store. Two whole yds for a buck.
Thanks for looking and Happy Waltzing!

I do see the background pattern; soft and subtle. That shell is so pretty as a label! Looooooove the gems and the lace edges! The flowers are so sweet!
