When my friend asked me to make a combined graduation/engagement card, I had no idea what to make, but I knew it had to involve the new PTI Enjoy the Ride set. And then I came upon this plan, which I admit I thought would either be totally horrible or totally awesome. You may have your own opinion, but I say "awesome!"
They are graduating from Mississippi State, so I went with a maroon (aka Scarlet Jewel) color theme. I colored about 10 of these cars before it came out even remotely nice-looking (due to lack of perfectly coordinating copics and lack of copic skill). I think this one ended up just being R59 all over. I used R29 for the headlights, and C3 for the silver, and went over the bumper & taillights with a jellyroll stardust pen. Then I covered the whole thing with glossy accents, to which I am officially addicted. I cut out the window and adhere acetate behind it.
Then for the cutest part-the cans! I cut small pieces of toothpicks and then wrapped two pieces together using aluminum foil that had been run through the xyron. I tied embroidery floss around each one, then strung the cord through the license plate of the car, and taped it down. After stringing all 5 cans, I adhered another license plate cut out from another stamped car over the string.
For the scenery, I used Sweet Slumber DP for the sky, PTI bitty dots for the grass, and SU Gray for the road, with some copic lines drawn on. For the graduates (which, after looking at this picture, I went back and made both the same height) I used the smallest nestie square with some maroon embroidery floss, along with part of Martha's rocket ship punch for the body. The graduates are adhere to the dp, the car is popdotted, and the whole image panel is popdotted on the Scarlet Jewel mat, which is embossed with Swiss Dots.
I printed the sentiment using New Boston & Dream Lover fonts onto PTI white, then rounded the bottom corners. The inside used the "congratulations" stamp from the Enjoy the Ride set.

This is terrific Meg! I love that you personalized it with having graduates driving off with their caps on. You have a lot of patience to color 9 other cars (glad you got this set - I know how much you wanted it!!) first. And the little cans are just darling. Bravo!
