I loved the site Anne chose for us this morning. I worked for a while in a shop that imported Finnish stuff - those Scandinavian countries sure know how to design.
I'm stretching the challenge a bit to make a card I need, but I hope to find time to be inspired by those dinky birdhouse kitchen timers later on...
This light reminded me a lot of this gorgeous card by Betty. I even got the dahlia dies especially to try something like it, but I fell a long way short.
As this is a commissioned card for sale, I made it bigger than normal, it's 7x5, and is currently just a card front.
7x5 Bazzill. Then some old DaisyD's paper which had the colours I wanted for my flower. Image is a digi from Mami-Doodles, coloured with re-inkers and H2Os for sparkle on the dress and hearts. I know this is the most mundane way of using gel pens, but I even added highlights to my hearts - probably a first for me! Sponged some ground in with distress inks, cut with Deckle Rectangle and edged with Stickles. The flower is the Spellbinders Dahlias, cut from the same watercolour paper that I stamped the image on, embossed with sparkle EP and layered up. I added a Prima and a Prima Say it With Pearls centre. I stitched pleats into the lace and added it.
I had my first panel made, and when I sponged the foreground I got ink on my finger and, yep, onto the panel. So I was able to practice my gel highlights . It also gave the chance to switch the pearl centre in the bride's flower for some little microbeads, which I like much better. (Detail picture uploaded).
