This is for the VSBN challenge (Sat. 4/24, 3 p.m.) – What Not To Wear. I also used Sally’s one-photo sketch #SBSC192. I’ve always chuckled at this photo of us in our high water pants. (My little sister is the only one not wearing them!) High waters may have been “in” during the mid-sixties, but they’re not much the look today!
In addition to a picture that makes a “fashion statement,” we were to use fibers, fabric, or some other item that you’d find on clothes. I added 3 strands of fiber above the journaling on the brown matting. I cut out the arrows by hand, ran them thru my Xyron, stuck them on different pp and cut around the arrows to add a matted effect. The gold paper has a textured look, but all the flowers and swirls are rub-ons. For the largest flower, I rubbed it onto So Saffron, then cut it out, added the brad and adhered with dimensionals. The alphas are punch-outs. I sanded the edges to get them smooth, then inked and popped them up with dimensionals. The arrows are on dimensionals too.
Journaling: “I don’t know whether high water pants and white socks were a sign of the times, or a sign of living in a small town, but in this photo it’s apparent that whatever the reason, high water pants were “in” around the time we moved to Saranac Lake from Levittown. We had arrived just in time for the start of the school year in September 1964 (I think we started on Day 2.)
I think this photo was taken in 1965 in the front yard of our house at 7 Park Place on the top of one of the highest hills in a very hilly town! David was home for a weekend from his first year at Plattsburgh State University. Don’t know who took the photo (I think it was Dad), but I’m glad they did – we don’t have very many photos of us in Saranac Lake.”

Love your page (I always do). The pants make me think of a picture of my dad at his wedding. He was sitting with his legs crossed and his black pants were too short and he was wearing white socks. They were married in '67. Guess the style lasted a few years.
