I've been wanting to make a magnetic bookmark for ages--thanks for the kick in the pants to do what I wanted to do!
One thing that always held me back--the instructions always call for magnetic strips and I thought the ones you buy in craft stores are just too thick. For this one, I cut a magnetic business card in half. JUST RIGHT! Stick the two pieces of magnet together, add extra sticky tape to one side, stick it down, then put tape on the other side and close it. That way everything is all lined up and the magnets have already done their *thing*. (Sometimes the polarity of the magnets will not allow the two halves to line up perfectly--just to prepare you OCD people out there...I guess you could trim the magnets again after they are stuck together.)
This one is ATC sized. I don't have time to make a bigger one, but thought that a triple pocket card with this bookmark and some stamped bookplates would be a great little masculine "favor" for a booklover.

Holy cow! Who'd a thunk it? Using the magnetic "save the date" as well as business cards. What a great idea. I can't attach anything to my fridge door as it is wood. Awesome job!
