This is the “almost” beginning of my album about our 3 dogs (I’ll have a cover page before these two pages.) We lost both of our two dear English Springer Spaniels last fall/winter within 4 months of each other due to old age. They were both about 12 ½ years old. In between we got our new puppy, Teddy, who is now 7 months old. Eventually, my album will have pages about all three dogs.
It took me a little while before I was ready to go through my pictures of our springers, but Diana’s “Pets in Our Lives” challenge motivated me, so hopefully, now I’m on a roll and can enjoy my fond memories. It also covers Jenn's IFC71 challenge to use 5 or more pics on a page!
These two pages are about our first days planning for and bringing home our cute little black and white springer puppy, Bailey. He was a fine, smart, handsome, fun dog and will always hold a shining place in our hearts and minds.
Journaling: "Once we decided we wanted an English Springer Spaniel puppy, we found [M. A.], a breeder who had a dog who was soon going to have a new litter. We visited her & got to know “the family” (her five springers) & then waited until the day the pups were born. One day, on a visit to try to make up our minds which little adorable furball wanted to be ours, a little male crawled up in Bob’s lap and just made himself comfy there. We knew right then that when he was old enough, he was meant to go home with us, Marcia told us she had pretty much singled him out for us in her mind, because she knew we wanted a smart guy, and he was the first to climb out of the box, and in her opinion was the smartest pup in the litter. We took him home when he was 7 weeks old & named him Bailey.
One of the coolest things was that Leslie, one of my friends from work, had decided to get a dog from the litter too. She picked a tri-colored pup and named him Rugby (heÂ’s the one with brown over his eyes & other brown markings.) They became the best of buds & we got together here & there with Leslie and Marcia for 'puppy visitation.'"
