To organize my twine, I used wooden spools that I buy for my parrots to chew on. This would also work for thinner fibers. You can see full details and links to purchase the spools here on my blog. Thanks for looking!

Great idea!
My gramma used to use spools similar to this to wind crochet thread onto. When she finished a doily or whatever, if a ball had just a little thread left on it, she'd rewind it onto a smaller wooden spool to save space.
She would carefully carve a notch in one of the ends to pop the tail of the thread into. It was a fast, easy way to hold the tail and prevent the spool from unwinding.

Oooh, thanks for the "notch" idea Appaloosasrbest! Wonderful idea! And these certainly would hold my crochet thread I use for my crochet flowers and butterflies too. Wonderful!
