First of all, today is my mom's 85th birthday. Happy Birthday mom. I love you! Thank you for those who sent her birthday cards. She loved all of them and was very surprised at each card was so different from the next one. She also liked the friendly notes that were enclosed and that people like you took the time to send out a card. Thanks so much, my mom really did enjoying looking at all the wonderful talents. You are the greatest!
Ohhh, I am so thrilled my suggestion site was nominated for the Inspiration Challenge for this week. What perfect timing that was because it gave me a chance to stop quilting and make a card for my special mother and a card for my son who turns "13" tomorrow. As I was browsing for fabrics one day, I came across this wonderful site called Warm Biscuit found here http://warmbiscuit.com/. Great ideas for kids stuff and mom's too.
I decided to create a Recessed window card using the technique from the Resources here on SCS. I tweeked the frame a bit to make my design fit better. I chose this inspiration wall the wall art here http://warmbiscuit.com/posyplaques.html. I received this image from a great friend Nancyruth and thought it would work perfect for this. I accidently started coloring with a red pencil, so I went with it. I colored the image using prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirts, and blending stumps. Cut out! I used versamark, clear emboss powder, and heat set. Added specs of MS fine glitter to the centers of the flowers. Set aside. I looked all over the place for striped dp (didn't have any) I made my own out of cut strips of white c/s and adhered with glue. I mounted the flowers with pop dot diminsionals and adhered to place. I added a white piece of c/s to cover the backing of the "X" part, and added tacky tape to the base of the card (which would of been) to the back of the flatform as well. I made 2 slits on top of the fold for the ribbon to go through. I taped the ribbon to the white inside the flatform so it wouldnt show. I had fun creating this. I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the front and used my Cricut for the words "mom". My mom will be able to display this on the wall or her door. Thanks Stef for using my idea tonight. Have a wonderful night and I can't wait to see what everyone creates.
The back of the card reads "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I would walk in my garden forever."
What do you think?
I had to scan my creation to get the true color of the red, otherwise it would of looked orange, sorry.
I am off to create another card for my son who will be the big "13". Is the TWEEN years really tough?
