Before I got all the folds right I practiced on printer paper or cardstock I knew I wouldn't miss (like going gray or sahara sand).
Based on the 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 template:
Step 1: Score your cardstock for all the lines on the template.
Step 2: Fold your cardstock for the valley folds at 2 3/4 and 4"; now open it back up.
Step 3: Fold the cardstock for the valley and mountain folds (the horizontal folds); now open it back up.
Step 4: Fold the diagonal mountain folds; now open it back up.
** The reason to do this is so when it comes time to fold everything together the crease is already there. **
Step 5: This may be awkward, BUT, you need to put all the folds together. This is the hard part. I hope I remember correctly, I haven't made one in a while.
* Fold the long horizontal mountain fold.
* Fold the 4" vertical valley fold.
* Fold the diagonal mountain folds.
* Fold the 2 3/4 " vertical valley fold.
* Fold the 2 3/4" horizontal valley fold.
If this doesn't work for you let me know and I will get out a piece of cardstock and right down all the steps (and maybe I canget my husband to take pictures).
