Okay, the dreaded "man" card has arrived. I'm not altogether okay with the b-day cake, but I tried.
I tried to "man" up the b-day cake by using greens and browns. I added crystal effects to the plate, candle flames and the little dots on the cake. I stamped the image on vanilla card stock and sponged around the edges with chocolate chip chalks.
I used the b-day ef for the top part of the card and some striped paper from a SU scrapbooking kit I have.
Added three SU courderoy buttons and some chocolate chip ribbon across the seam. Popped up the main embossed panel and the image panel on dimensionals.
I almost had this an all SU card. The only thing no SU was the ef.
Well, that's it for my trip to "mansville"!! I have an anniversary card and birthday card to make for my husband this month still, so I'm not off the hook yet.
Thanks so much for stopping by and let me know what you think if you have a chance.
P.S. Oh, I have to give credit to my husband on this one. I kept struggling trying to get this to look right. First I just used the vanilla ef, but it was too plain. Then I opted for patterned paper and my husband suggested stripes. Then, I had the stripes covering the full card, and it was too much. Then, my husband suggested I do stripes at bottom and ef on top. Duh...that seemed to work the best. It's a very simple card, but somehow I made it complicated!!!

I think it turned out great, Pam. I think clean and simple layouts is the best way to go with masculine cards. I agree with your husband in that the stripes are perfect! Yea for you and your Stampin' Up Mostly card. LOL...

LOVE this!!! What a great man card--super colors and great stripes. I love how you used both ribbon and buttons, but managed to make them look manly!!! Super, duper job. Love it!!

Well, I see you got over your crying spell long enough to make a card. Really LOL
My gosh, this is so masculine and beautiful at the same time. Love your corduroy buttons and the colors you used. I just made a card this morning and used stripes at the bottom,ef at the top, and ribbon at the top of the stripes. Great minds....., although this was your hubby's mind. Good thing he was home or you would have never gotten this many favorited card made.
Seriously, it is awesome and I will have to CASE it for a masculine card. Going into my favorites, my friend!!!
Edit: Came back to say, be sure to root for my ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE team tonight to win the National Championship. I'm so sure you will.
