This card is for a very kind & caring friend of my sister. The day after my sister passed away, this friend came over with paper plates, cups, napkins, and coffee. When she left, both my other sister & myself commented how much we loved her jewelry. When I saw her again at my sister's memorial service a few days later, I told her that we liked it and she took off the bracelet and handed it to me right there (and remember this lady doesn't know me from Adam's housecat!). Then, as if that wasn't generous enough, about an hour after we get back to the house, she comes over--she went out and got the necklace and earrings to match and brought them over for me. She bought herself a replacement bracelet and said she'll think of my sister every time she wears it. Is that not the sweetest story? Definitely a reminder for me to be more generous to both friends and strangers.
Ok, ok, wipe away the tears and let's get to card-makin'! After playing around with about 14,836 paper combinations, I settled on Cosmo Cricket Earth Love patterned paper, PTI Berry Sorbert, and SU So Saffron. I LOVE this quote from Unity: "The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest of intentions" and I love the notebook paper look! I inked & distressed all the edges, and sewed around the outside edge. Added some embossing, MS scallop heart border, and some American Craft brown ribbon, but I still feel it's missing something.
ETA: Ok, I think I found the missing something! I added some rustic twine and a button, with the handwritten "thanks" tag, and now I think it's finished!

I really like this mix of colors and the 'so true' sentiment. What a wonderful story of your sister's friend. You couldn't have made a more perfect card for her. So sorry for the loss of your sister.

I love the color palette of this card Meg, and how the curves in the DP match the sun. I am sure she will be touched by this card as you were by her generous actions.
