Whew! It has been very busy for me lately, like most people nowadays and I have been running out of ideas for ornaments. Every year since my kids have been in school, I have since then made ornaments for their classes. This year, I have just one son in 3rd grade...my other son is in 7th grade. Anyhow, I decided on quick snowman glass ornaments to make. Well, I ran out of the 1 1/2 clear glass ornaments and needed 5 more. Sold out everywhere. My older son helped me look for something else to substitute and found these mini lightbulb glass jars at HL for 50 cents, they are half off this week...fit perfectly. Just unscrew the bottom and stuff the batting inside.
Here is my story:
My kids and I started out by stuffing the glass balls with some fake snow batting using the back end of a pencil. Luckily I found some mini felt Christmas hats in the craft section (Make it Christmas at HL) for 1/2 off. I used the cropodile to punch a hole near the top of the hat, threaded some cording to make a loop. Added hot glue to the back of the hat and bent the end just enough for the hat to bend in place. We glued the hats inside around the edge of the hat, and attached to the glass ball. For the glass balls, I discarded the ornament hanger. I also found the holly leaves in the Make it Christmas at HL in the Christmas crafts and we cut the wires off the hot glued 2 leaves and hollies together. Attached to hat. I made the faces with a black and orange sharpie. My son signed the back of them with his name and year. These actually took about 2 hours to do 25 of them. I think they are super cute and simple. What do you think? Have a wonderful night!
