OMG! You won't believe what I went through for the technique challenge today. It's suppose to have been a simple stocking gift holder...it literally took me up until 2:30pm to complete it. Here is the wonderful instructions found here: http://waltzingmouse.blogspot.com/20...ng-anyone.html
Here is my story...Since some of you know that I am a quilter. I make many things such as quilts, purses, tote bags, and even Christmas stockings. Well, while I was in the process of making my gift card stocking holder this morning...I thought for a minute and said "I ought to find the stockings that I made the boys last year in the attic to match". Long story short. I went through tons of Christmas totes in the attic with little light 3 times...finally got mad and screamed "WHERE IS IT" and was so upset. Anyways found it after I had some tea...
I started out by following the tutorial and printed the template on c/s. I traced the pattern onto the back side of the plaid dp because I was almost out of ink to see clearly. I did twice, one for the back of the c/s also. I know I didnt follow the instructions throughly but I got it to look like hers anyways...headache going on. I mounted the plaid all the way to the top inside and again for the top outside. I cut a small piece of cream and stamped the phrase onto it. Sponged the edges. Used hole punch! I couldnt find any Christmas trees that would look just right so I had to draw one, cut out, and used the cb swirl emboss folder on it. I used the cm circle punches to create the snowman body. I stamped the scarf onto dp, cut out, adhered to body. The eyes are brads, nose is ribbon, and the star on the hat is also a brad. I stamped the hat onto white c/s and colored it black and adding white dots. The rest of the stars is punched from yellow glitter paper. I used the cb swirls folder on the snowman as well. I think the next one will be easier for me since I brought down both stockings. Thanks for the fun challenge!
I did leave the toe and heel off because I wanted it to look like the Christmas stocking!
The inside of the gift card holder flap says
"May your holidays be stitched with happiness!"
What do you think?
