This was my first attempt at a collage card. I love them, but they DO NOT come easy for me. This one was in progress for H-O-U-R-S. The technique itself is simple. I just have a horrible time choosing stamps that will go together nicely.
Then, after all that angst, I realized a mistake. The stamp I used for the base image, I stamped first, then worked over and around it. I should've stamped it last, or close to last.
I sponged a bunch of Tim Holtz Distress Inks onto this, and they caused the main image to blur/bleed. It blurred the most where the latin writing is on the top half of the card.
I made this card for some friends whose daughter fell 35 ft. and is in really bad shape.
I used glossy cs, and a rather large hodge-podge of stamps. Some of them I have no clue as to the maker.
As I was doing this, I also discovered that stamping on glossy cs with the distress inks doesn't work so well. They take a really long time to dry...even using the heat gun. I had no trouble with StazOn or Memories drying quickly tho.
I stamped the verse onto ivory cs, then sponge it with various inks to make it blend better with it's background. I attached it with a couple brown brads.
I stamped and clear embossed the butterfly on black paper, then used an aqua painter loaded with future floor wax to paint the butterly with Pearl Ex powders. I bent the wings upward a little bit, then glued the body down.
Other than the verse and butterfly, this is a single layer. I sponged light brown, then dark brown all around the edges to give it a layered look.
This card proved very difficult to photograph. It truly looks much better IRL.
The card is blank inside. I'm going to handwrite a note before mailing it.
