For today's Divine Diva Inspiration Challenge, This is also for last week's WT to use purple. I have to admit, I was really stumped by this one at first. Lori wanted to take a break from fall and Christmas colors, but these colors really stopped me cold. I looked through my dp, through wrapping paper even through some old wallpaper books. I couldn't come up with these colors.
Finally, I decided to just go with a few of the colors. I just ignored the blue and used the pinks, purples and a little vanilla. The whole picture had a sort of mid eastern look to me and the first thing I thought of was the City of David set from Flourishes.
While these may not be traditional Christmas colors, I think they work well with this terrific Christmas scene.
The City of David was stamped first w/ the grape ink onto a large vanilla Spellbinders oval. I overstamped it w/ the amethyst ink and added a little color to the buildings w/ markers and a blender pen. After masking the image, I sponged on some pigment inks starting w/ parchment near the buildings, dusty rose and finally eggplant. It's attached to a vanilla layer that was edged w/ markers and the greeting stamped in the lower right corner.
I stamped and colored the Wise Men the same way and cut them out (except at the bottom). The background layer was stamped w/ a clear acrylic block stamp from the Michael's $ bin and the amethyst ink. I added some foam tape for a little dimension and attached all my layers.
Thanks so much for looking! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.
