I have long kept my sponge wedges in these $1.49 compartmentalized plastic boxes. There's plenty of space to include a matching dauber. They stack in a small amount of space, and if the cube for a specific color is 'empty', I know that the wayward sponge is either AWOL, or perhaps I never designated a sponge for that color at all. ;)

What a cool idea! I have been struggling with sponge storage, mostly being wasteful and throwing out perfectly good sponges. I finally bought some small ziplock bags and wrote the color of the ink on the ziplock; I tried writing on the sponge like you did but mine didn't turn out as well! I like the ziplock bags for when I travel, and they might even fit in the container you have, but I think I will invest in some plastic containers!! TFS!

Much classier than my sponge storage. Mine is just a ziplock bag and mine are makeup sponges. I only use about 3 triangular ones w/ one having the yellow, red, orange, another has blue, green, white and the last has brown, black and I'm not sure anymore what the last color is, lol. Probably purple. I like your idea, Bev!
