I ordered the SU Pirate Party Kit for my ds's 5th BD party. He loved the banner, invites and party favor treasure chests. I used one of the pirate flags from the banner to be the sail on his pirate ship cake and used on of the little flags intended for toothpicks to make a smaller flag and some of the scraps leftover to make an even smaller one. :-)

This is ingenious!! I am a cake decorator (my job) and I love your use of candy and wafers and candles for all the various elements!! I work in a grocery store, so I don't often get to be this creative! (except w/ my kids birthdays!) this is awesome!

I used a 9x13 for the ocean, and 2 round 9 " layers plus a 9" tube cake for the boat. These were frozen solid, then cut in half and stuck together w/ icing, pierced through w/ bamboo skewers, then frozen again. Then I iced the bottom of the boat while it rested on its flat top. Froze again, then placed on top of the iced "ocean", pierced w/ skewers from the top of the ship at an angle into the ocean, then iced the top and decorated. Store in the fridge until serving so it doesn't get too soft and sink! :-) HTH! (So really, you want to bake it almost a week before you need it, to start the icing/freezing process.)
