I made this for today's sketch in the caardvark's sketchfest. When I saw it this morning, the big circle made me think of a Chinese-style embroidery I did once, with a round red sun, and an eagle on pine branches. I took my colours more from some Japanese framed prints that were in my dad's nursery when he was little, and are now in the spare room in his house.
A2 black base. The pine bough from Kodomo's Winter Robin was stamped with Versafine Olympia Green on some old Mi-Teintes paper. The sun was cut from some more Mi-Teintes, and sponged with distress inks. The black strip was edged with a gold pen and then embossed with D'vine Swirl. For the main image I misted some watercolour paper and then sponged it lightly with Antique Linen. I stamped the images with Walnut Stain, and used the sand from Shore Thing to stamp the foreground with Vintage Photo. I distressed the edges and then sponged again with Antique Linen.
I've had pearls in mind because one of Kelly's WOW challenges that I missed was *impearl* - it's the first time I've opened the pack of black pearls.
This turned out almost how I imagined it - not often that that happens.

Sabrina, what a wonderful way to use this sketch! It is definitely reminiscent of embroidery! Lovely.
