I used Watercolor paper....
With the Aqua Painters, I started with a bright pink... swishing the brush, filled with color, back and forth on the paper. Then I did the same with a blue. Then, going in the opposite direction I went half way across the paper with a dark green (trying to make it look like grass).
For the sunflower, I black embossed the image on Watercolor paper, got the paper REAL wet inside each petal.... then came back with yellow and swirled the color in the wet petals.... then came back with orange, and just touched a few drops in the yellow petals. At the time, I didn't have a brown, so I fudged a 'brown' for the middle of the flower. Then... let the flower dry on it's own. After it dries, and the orange flows where it wants.... it makes an awesome shaded piece.
I cut the flower out, and mounted it over top my 'whacky' background using Stampin' Dimensionals.
