Well, I might have liked this card if I hadn't gone and ruined it with stitching gone wrong that ate up my card base. This card (third entry for the day) is for today's Clean and Simple Challenge (CAS26) to use stitching (real or faux) on a card.
To make the background, I used a swirly background stamp to stamp on white muslin, and I'm pleased with how that turned out. Then I stitched that panel to the card base. First mistake--I think I should have used a contrasting thread instead of white. I stitched in red around the ladybug image (paper pieced), and that turned out OK, I think. I didn't think there was enough definition, so after that, I added a row of straight black stitches above and below the muslin panel. Unfortunately, the thread jammed halfway across the top and ruined the line. Ugh. The bottom row is better. After I added the sentiment, I felt like the card wasn't hanging together, so I added some fancy stitching--in theory, it was a great idea, but the cardstock couldn't hold up to all the pulling, torquing, and double stitching and ate up the card base. If it doesn't look horrible to you in the photo, believe me, in real life it's much worse.
And there you have it. I was so psyched to make this card and am now pretty disappointed with how it turned out. But, it is a usable card, so it won't go to waste. Hopefully, I'll be able to apply the lessons learned to "next" time!!
Thanks for looking,
Emily

I actually love that stitching with the sentiment - I don't know what it is supposed to look like but I think it is really cool stitching!! I love the entire card!

I think it is a wonderful card. Love the ladybug, the use of muslin to stamp, and that sweet bow. Also, the stitching looks good!

I think it is great! The stitching on either side of the sentiment looks like a 'parade' of ladybugs to me - that's what I thought of when I saw the thumbnail!

You know, Emily, I am beginning to think you are a person who loves RED! If so, I like you all the more!! You may be disatisfied with the results, but only YOU know what went wrong (if anything did). The rest of us just like it!!

Well - sounds like you had some stitching trials - but it looks wonderful from here! Sometimes you need to walk away and then look at it fresh! I love all the different stitching you did here - and the fun ribbon and bow!

I think it looks great Emily! Do you recall where you purchased that red bow? I had some like it and can't remember where I got them and would love to find more. Figured it could not hurt to ask anyway. Nice job!
