This card was made to meet 2 challenges:Monday's CAS challenge of paper piecing and today's WT challenge of bold and bright.
I have to say that the paper piecing was a real challenge for me. Seemed simple, but I just couldn't cut the edges of the cake where it went together evenly (I used two different dsp for the cake-- one for the top layer and the pedistal and a different one for the bottom and the candles), so I dragged out the liquid applique! Voila! Icing and a paper cover-up at the same time!
Going bold isn't really a challenge for me during the summer; I tend to be color coordinated with the seasons! In spring, I tend to use more of the soft subtles, in fall the earth tones and in winter more of the rich regals. In summer, I like the bold brights! So that part wasn't as much of a challenge--I used real red mainly. But making it pop was! That's why I chose to mix the two challenges-- I thought the CAS look would make the color pop!
Thanks for looking!
