This is a card a made for a seven-year-old boy fighting leukemia, responding to a card request from DeborahM. I don't wander too much from the "Stamping Stuff" forums, but the card request thread is under "need a lift" in the "other stuff" category. Here is a direct link to the forum.
I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch, which is also the first sketch for the Verve Release Week Challenge. There was supposed to be an embellishment on the left, but I wanted to keep it clean since there was so much else going on and it was for a boy.
I LOVE this stamp, "Stuart and Scooter Fly," from Eat Cake Graphics. I stamped the image onto white cardstock twice and onto some really cardboard-colored kraft paper three times. I cut out one, leaving a white mat around the entire image--I learned last time that the wheels and Stuart's head are a bit unstable if you cut them directly on the line. I colored the wheels with prismacolor pencils and a silver Prang brush pen. The other image I colored with prismacolor pencils and cut out Stuart and Scooter. From the kraft paper, I cut out the back of the box, the main box, and the box flap. I layered on all the pieces and it turned out to be a pretty nice 3-D look.
I cut a stencil for the clouds using an oval nestability, then sponged PTI Fresh Ink onto the Baja Breeze. I cut two strips out of Kiwi Kiss, fringed the edges, and added that as grass, sandwiching Stuart inbetween (Stuart is on popdots). The sentiment is from The Cat's Pajamas, stamped in Ladybug. Added Baja Breeze ribbon, some PTI vintage cream ribbon (which is really close to white!), and some dp.
I hope this bring some cheer to Mr Ben!

Meg, this is AWESOME!! (HOW did I miss this stamp set when I ordered from Eat Cake Graphics???). Love how you colored the boy and the puppy (SO cute!) and then sandwiched it between the two levels of grass - how ingenious to cut the edges like that?!! Love the DP and the color palette you used too. I hope the little boy gets well soon, I KNOW this card will cheer him.
Absolutely love everything about this card!!! It is sooo cute and fun. I love the image as it reminds me of my nephew who would much rather have the box a gift came in than the gift so he could ride it down the stairs - yikes!
