This card was made for my stepsonÂ’s 17th Birthday. He always gets a birthday card that has a dragon on it somewhere.
The Background was made with masking tape (the technique can be found in the resources section) and I did add in some higher spots by using more masking tape to build it up on the surface and the edges. After I embossed with clear EP I also wiped on color box pigment ink and then some additional clear EP and a little bit of green and bronze EP. Ancient Page chocolate and black ink was also wiped on and heat set. I sprayed on a little bit of Anarondack colorwash on the Chocolate chip card it was mounted on.
The map was stamped with Distress ink and embossed. I painted on the water with an aqua painter and when that was dry I also painted on browns to add depth. The paper was folder like a map and roughed up a bit. The map and the gold paper it was mounted on were distressed on the edges with my fingers and a palette knife. Distress ink was swiped on the fold lines and the distressed edges. I drew on a treasure path using a black felt and highlighted with a white gel pen. The map also had some sponging done around the edges with a stipple brush. The gold medallion and ‘gold bar’ also had ancient page chocolate and black rubbed on to make it look less shinny!

Your faux leather turned out fabulous! I couldn't get the inks to look dark on mine, so I'll have to try it like you explained it. The card is really amazing! Thanks!
