I've been working on this card for a couple of days. I'd do a little bit and set it aside and think about it some more. I was trying to figure out what to place in back of the main image. I didn't have any background papers in the colors I wanted, so I considered what I could create. At first I thought I'd do a plaid, but that didn't seem right. I looked through some safari papers I had, but none of them worked and then I thought I'd just make my own. I wanted to used the Going Gray and the Wild Wasabi colors. So I made some faux elephant hide. I wet the paper and wrinkled it into a ball. I smoothed it back out and dried it with my heat gun. I rubbed some Going Gray dye based ink onto the wrinkles and sprayed again to soften the edges of the ink. After is was dry once more, I sponged on some Creamy Carmel ink and then hit the highlights again with some Vanilla craft ink. I love how this paper turned out. Then I used a ghosting technique on a piece of glossy white CS. I stamped a leaf stamp in Versamark and then sponged Wild Wasabi ink over that. Then I used the same stamp and ink color to stamp more leaves ont he piece. I added these layers onto an A6 Wild Wasabi card. I added eyelets and some black hemp and stamped a greeting. The inside greeting is by Little Paper Shop and says:
A Father is someone who walks in front of you when you need footsteps to follow, behind you when you need encouragement and beside you when you need a friend.
