I need a 21st card for a guy this weekend, and we're giving him book tokens. Seemed suitable, as he's been borrowing books from us over the years, starting with Garfield when he was a kid, and working his way through my entire Terry Pratchett collection. I wanted to have another go at the gesso resist, this time using it for backing paper instead of the main image. So, I used some old 12x12 printed paper, added the gesso and then stamped with Print Pattern and embossed with clear EP. Then I sponged it with Tim Holtz distress inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. Trimmed it down and added aged brass eyelets in 3 corners and hardware and a Hero Arts sentiment in the other corner.
The image is Penny Black, stamped onto watercolour paper with Versafine Black and coloured with watercolour pencils. I think I'll pass on trying to copy a black leather chair next time! Glossy Accents on the cup, and some more brass hardware in the corners. The base is a sort of cream card, 7x5, stamped with Weathered in Antique Linen.
