I wanted a way I can store my doll's hats nicely in her wardrobe trunk. I made these Barbie-sized hat boxes from paper mache boxes, acrylic paint, eyelets, cotton yarn, and Crystal Effects. For the pink and brown box, I used Parisian Summer DSP and the Barbie logo printed from my computer. For the blue and yellow box I used Bella Birds DSP and alphabet stamps (not sure of the brand.)
I also used a Dremel to cut and sand the pink/brown box to the right size. For both boxes, I used a power drill with 1/8" general purpose drill bit to make holes for the eyelets, and a Crop-a-dile II to set the eyelets.
The yarn is woven through the holes in such a way so that when the handle is pulled it locks down the lid.
PS - I know the pink/brown box looks huge, but her hat really is that big! Take a look at my other photo. :-)
