Well, what an interesting tea-party theme this week. Suits me - we aren't vegetarians but we do eat vegetarian meals 3 or 4 times a week, so I have no problem bringing some greens along as Cindy asked us to . i only just planted my beans and peas out today, but I brought the cabbage that I forgot to cook last night with our beef and Guinness stew.
Why it's not a Cabbage White butterfly on that teapot is beyond me!! We even saw one when we were walking along the canal on Saturday, but I stuck with the teapot and made a Peachy Pink one instead.
The base is A2 dark navy.
The next layer is some red-cabbage Core'dinations embossed with the Textiles ef. I distressed the edges and sponged them with ColorBox Magenta ink, and then punched the corners.
Then a scalloped Nestabilities from the same card, edges sponged and Petal Pink Liquid Pearls added (those are the eggs that the caterpillars will hatch from, sigh...).
For my cabbage leaves, debhorst had very kindly sent me some waxed paper so that I could try out the wax paper resist technique. I thought it would make great cabbage leaves - and I now well and truly have green fingers, aside from the gardening I fitted in this morning. I cut them with plain oval Nestabilities and sponged the edges with Magenta again.
The butterfly was a scrap of card from the table, punched and embossed, then lightly sanded and with gold Liquid Pearls down the body.
Thanks for such a healthy tea-party today, Cindy, just what most of us need after Easter.

I wanna reach out and touch this fun teapot card! The cb pieces are amazing! I LOVE the waxy cabbage leaves you made!!!!!...although they also remind me of a green zebra, and that is not such a vegetarian snack...as you can see, I brought tofu crabbits instead of crumpets to the party, hee!

Ooh! I love it! Its so tea pot inspired! I love that you got the textures of the teapot, of course the colors and most importantly the fun little butterfly. I love the scallop decorations too! I agree with you though....the Cabbage white butterfly would have been perfect! But you refrained from changing the colors! I admire that! Snort!
I love that its a vegetarian teaparty and you came with green fingers! I betcha you will be the only one dressed so appropriately! Giggle!
Thanks for coming! And for the link! I love your card and I betcha its one that you can use!!!!

Sabrina, your card is so pretty. I especially was drawn to the wax paper resist on the green. It is really neat looking. I love the texture it adds. The embossing and your little butterfly add together to make a gorgeous creation.

Wow! This is beautiful, Sabrina! I love all the embossing and the wax paper resist effect! Perfect for recreating cabbage leaves! Cool details! I suppose after all the sweets at Easter, we could stand to have something healthier today!

Beautiful job with the wax resist. You seem to know a lot more about cabbages and farming in general than most of us so maybe that is why your cabbage leaves look real and some of ours are a bit suspect. Your butterfly is beautiful. I always wonder when I am making a comment what time it is for you. Oh, I could figure it out but that is too much like work.

Sabrina, lovely. I love the color of green next to the red/pink. Wow, that waxed paper resist is fantastic. I haven't tried that. I love the textures. Have you tried the cupcakes with veggie frosting. MMMMMMMMMMM.......

The textures that you have on this card are so inviting. I love the technique you used on your green paper - it's beautiful! We get a lot of cabbage moths here in the summer. THey're all over the place, but not yet - still too cold. Love your butterfly!
