This is my submission for the My Favorite Things Stamping Idol competition. This week, our challenge was to make a creation using the technique of masking.
I created this card using MFT's It's a Jungle Out There and Build a Bouquet.
I stamped the giraffe from It's a Jungle Out There onto Neenah Solar Crest cardstock using Marvy dye black ink. I then masked the image to stamp another giraffe behind him. I then thought a third giraffe was needed so I reversed the image. I then proceeded to color the giraffes using Copic Markers.
I then stamped the sun with an image from Build A Bouquet with Hero Arts Vanilla Shadow ink. This was masked slightly behind one of the giraffe's head.
I then took a Versamark pen and covered all stamped images. I covered these images with clear embossing powder and heat embossed to create a type of resist.
It was then that I dusted off my brayer and applied Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye ink and Adirondack Sunset Orange dye ink onto the paper. I created the horizon using a mask made with torn Post-It notes and sponged Adirondack Terra Cotta dye ink. I also brayered using Sea Shells sandal dye ink. Random grass images from It's a Jungle Out There were also stamped onto the foreground with Adirondack Latte dye ink.
Patterned paper, colored cardstock, mesh, brads, and a paper piercer were also used to create this card.
The sentiment, "What's Up?" is computer generated.
Thanks so much for looking, and good luck to all of the Top 9 Finalists!
